Candidate Statement -
I strongly feel that P.S.L. needs a voice for the common, working-class citizen. As a local law enforcement officer who patrols the streets of P.S.L., I know how the average citizen feels towards government, and I know what it needs to keep it's citizens safe. As a middle class husband and father of two children, I know what it's like to work 40 hour weeks plus overtime and extra details just to make ends meet. I too feel angry and frustrated when government spends thousands of dollars on outside consulting firms to tell them what citizens like you and I want instead of just asking us! I get angry when I watch my tax dollars go to put thousands of dollars of landscape in an exclusive section of town, but get told there is no money to fix the pot holes or drainage by my home. My name is Cameron Bates. I don't just claim to understand the plight of the working class... I am a member of the working class! If elected, I will be their voice. I will work to distribute city services evenly and based on need, not neighborhood status! I will work to keep local decisions local. I will make public safety and public service the top priority of the city government. I will work to see that all city leaders spend time among all their constituents and respond to emergencies and disasters. I will be the working class member of the city council!
