Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, September 7, 2004
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Vice Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll had been taken.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Vice Chairman at 9:15 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was amended to permit the Chairman to deliver his report out of order. The Agenda as amended was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the August 31, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. Golmon abstaining.
The Secretary reported that thus far he has not received any nomination petitions from members of the National Committee. The deadline for receipt by mail or by facsimile is September 15th.
The tri-fold brochures have been retrieved from the printer and are being shipped out. The bumper stickers have been sent to the printer and should be available sometime next week.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $3807.78. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time. There are presently funds sufficient to cover all expenditures already authorized by the National Committee.
Mr. Golmon reported he has been helping the Party Building Committee prepare the manual and protocol for the Patriot ID activity project.
Mrs. Winters reported that the New Hampshire state party has endorsed several candidates for state and federal office. In addition, she has been working on her article for the upcoming newsletter.
The Chairman joined the meeting. He reported that he is scheduled next week to attend a banquet honoring Lou Dobbs for his reporting on immigration and outsourcing of jobs overseas. The Chairman has also been working on some press releases, which should be sent later this week.
A time of discussion was held regarding possible candidates seeking the party's endorsement.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has approved the newsletter insert, and is still reviewing its long-term fundraising proposal.
Mr. White reported working Party Building contacts in Alaska and other states.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will meet tomorrow evening to work on the operating rules for Organizing Committees.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. Carroll, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
