Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, October 19, 2004
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll had been taken.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:15 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Hill seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been handling press and other inquiries relating to the Party's endorsement of Mr. Peroutka and other matters concerning the Presidential election. He has also been working with Mr. White on some radio commercials for his campaign.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the October 5, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that approximately 4930 copies of the September 2004 Newsletter were mailed yesterday.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $331.71. There is an outstanding invoice due for postage on the newsletter. In addition, the party donation to Mr. White has not yet been covered. The Pre-general FEC report has been submitted.
Mr. Golmon reported that he is drafting a manual for the Party Building Committee describing how Party Building members should carry out their duties. In addition, he is working on a protocol for the Bumper Sticker activity.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee is waiting for input on the revised price listing for promotional materials for Party members.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee met yesterday to begin drafting the next Quarterly newsletter.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee is trying to schedule a meeting to interview Mr. Browning for the position of National Committee member.
An extended discussion was held regarding the futility of reforming the Republican Party.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:24 p.m.
