Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, November 9, 2004
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:22 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been taking care of various correspondence, preparing post-election analyses, and preparing a press release on the party's latest electoral victory.
A question was asked about the status of autographed books from Mr. Buchanan. They should be received for distribution early next week.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the October 26, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $897.97. There are several invoices coming due in the amount of approximately $1100. Another FEC report is due toward the end of the month.
Mr. White reported that he will resume active Party Building Committee work now that his campaign is concluded.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee is close to completing the November newsletter.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting later this week to discuss the issue of the convention and the Operating Rules for Organizing Committees.
The Chairman mentioned that he hopes we are in a position to call a National Committee meeting for Tuesday, November 23, to handle various budget requests and other matters.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
