Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, January 4, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:36 p.m.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He reported dealing with a heavy load of communications from various sources. He has begun preparing a series of essays for publication to the party leaders concerning priorities during this New Year.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes of the December 28, 2004 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that he has made progress setting up new web services which should be available shortly.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $179.15. The end-of-year report to the FEC will be submitted shortly.
A discussion was held regarding party building strategy. The state of Michigan is close to the formation of an organizing committee. Mr. White will begin prioritizing the states based upon how far along they are in membership recruitment, etc.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will meet Thursday next week to continue working on the Organizing Committee rules.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Hill, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:09 p.m.
