Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, March 22, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:16 p.m.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been fielding numerous contacts resulting from the Party's Schiavo press release. He has also continued working on various standing committee business and contacting National Committee members.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the March 15, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Golmon, and adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. Golmon abstaining.
The Secretary mentioned that he had circulated a report of persons who have volunteered to help the committees. The report was discussed briefly. An additional report will be prepared that mines the database for further information on volunteers.
The Secretary reported that the March newsletters were all mailed last Thursday. There are a few remaining for special uses.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $1041.36. There is an unpaid invoice for $1241.91 for mailing costs.
Mr. Golmon reported details of his ballot access research on Vermont municipal elections.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee has completed its final proofing and correction of the Rules of Operation for Organizing Committees. It has begun consideration of the process for conversion of an Organizing Committee to an affiliated State Party.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of a Resolution to call a telephonic meeting of the National Committee for Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 9 pm Eastern Time. The Resolution was seconded by Mr. Golmon, and adopted by unanimous vote.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Golmon, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
