Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, July 26, 2005
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:18 p.m.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. The newsletter is making an impact, with many responses from persons who wish to donate to the party. The Party received coverage in WorldNetDaily and other sites since the last press release. The Chairman has been working on Finance Committee issues relating to the long range fundraising plan that has now been initiated.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the July 19, 2005 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The summer issue of the newsletter was mailed last Friday.
The programming required to generate automatic email responses and notices to party building members has been finished and is now functioning.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $758.93. There are no unpaid obligations, and the mailing costs of the Summer 2005 newsletter have been paid.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has met and approved the fund raising list. Additional meetings are going on regarding finalizing the first letter which will be sent in about 10 days.
Mr. White reported that the Party Building Committee will be meeting Thursday evening.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee is working to finalize the re-printing of the generic newsletter and has begun work on the Fall newsletter.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting this Saturday to continue its work on procedures for converting Organizing Committees to State Parties.
The Chairman reported on a web news service that the Party can incorporate into its web site. The originator of the news feed would post reciprocal banner ads for the party as well.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mrs. Winters, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned.
