Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, March 21, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:18 p.m.
Mr. Hill moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mrs. Winters seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been playing catch-up on emails and messages, but focusing mainly on working with the Rules Committee and the Organizing Committee in Michigan to prepare for this weekend's Founding Convention. Mr. Charles will fly to Michigan this weekend to attend the state convention in Ypsilanti.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the March 14, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $8348.41. There are no outstanding invoices, but several high-dollar invoices will come due within the next 48 hours.
A discussion was held on the logistics of mailing the newsletters and fund-raising letters in large volume.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee is starting work on the next fund raising letter that should be ready to send out within two weeks.
Mr. White delivered the Party Building Committee report. He has been making contact in Louisiana and Alabama with prospects.
Mr. Carroll delivered the Platform Committee report. He is working on calling a committee meeting to prepare for the national convention.
Mrs. Winters reported that the Public Relations Committee will be meeting this Saturday. She intends to re-circulate a list of articles along with who is responsible to provide them. The newsletter needs to be ready for the printer in three weeks.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee is back on hiatus after finishing work earlier this week to provide some rules for the upcoming Founding Convention in Michigan.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Carroll, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:52 p.m.
