Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
Mr. Joe Spitzig, Convention Committee Chairman, was also present as a guest.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:16 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. The number of calls and hits has greatly increased in the wake of the recent massive newsletter mailing. He has also made networking contacts with immigration control advocacy groups.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the April 4, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that both fund raising letters are at the printer and in production.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $6321.27. There are no outstanding invoices, but several high-dollar invoices will come due shortly.
Mr. Spitzig delivered a report from the Convention Committee.
Mr. Hill reported on several Finance Committee meeting sessions to work on the drafts of the fund raising letters.
Mr. White delivered the Party Building Committee report. He has been handling a large number of phone calls on the party's toll-free line.
Mr. Carroll stated that he intends to call a Platform Committee meeting within the next week.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will meet on April 19 to work on the standing rules for the upcoming Convention and in-person National Committee meeting.
Mrs. Winters delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The committee met last Saturday and will meet again this Saturday to finalize the newsletter.
A time of general discussion took place.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
