Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, April 18, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Dan Charles of Colorado, Chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Romelle Winters of New Hampshire, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Larry Carroll of Colorado, Platform Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Trey Golmon of Mississippi, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Vice-chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:21 p.m.
Mrs. Winters moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. Several press releases have gone out this week, and the Chairman has continued to field phone calls and other contacts generated by the recent newsletter mailing. He has also been working on arranging speakers for the convention.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the April 11, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported on the status of the large fund raising letter mailing.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $3991.54. There is a printing invoice for $9220 now due to be paid.
Mr. White delivered the Party Building Committee report. He reported handling several very favorable contacts from people interested in building the party in their state.
Mr. Carroll delivered the Platform Committee report. A discussion was held regarding a possible plank and the need to interview the new National Committee candidates from Michigan.
Mr. Charles reported that the Rules Committee will not meet Thursday evening, but will meet next Monday evening instead to review and, if necessary, revise the convention related rules.
Mrs. Winters delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The committee will meet Wednesday evening to finally approve the newsletter.
A time of general discussion took place.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mrs. Winters, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:11 p.m.
