Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, June 19, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- JC Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:11 p.m.
Mr. Schweingrouber moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. McClellan seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working on Massachusetts state party matters for this week-end's convention. In addition, he has been corresponding with leaders from other states regarding activism in their states.
Mr. Hill reported his sense in the past several weeks of a greater interest by the prospects in the party and in the issues for which we are fighting.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 12, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. McClellan, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that all the monthly cycle mailings, notices, reminders, forms, and newsletters have been mailed out.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $2651.24. The final bill for the convention hotel facilities has been received. There is also a disputed invoice for printing that is still pending.
Mr. Eller delivered a Finance Committee report. A meeting has been called for this Wednesday evening. A discussion was held regarding the committee's membership.
Mr. Spitzig delivered a Platform Committee report. A committee meeting has been called for June 22 to determine the agenda and aims of the committee.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. A committee meeting has been called for June 27.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee does not have any issues outstanding at this time. A short discussion was held regarding publishing an index of standing rules cross-indexed with the minutes of the National Committee.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Schweingrouber, seconded by Mr. Eller, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 9:44 p.m.
