Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, June 26, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, June 26, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- John Pittman Hey of Mississippi, Secretary/Treasurer
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- JC Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee
Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll had been taken.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:08 p.m.
Mr. Schweingrouber moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. McClellan seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He reported on his own state's convention held last Saturday. He also reported on a fund raiser he attended in Rhode Island at which some good contacts were made. The Chairman reported that he has been assisting the Finance Committee and Platform Committee in their work.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 19, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Browning, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that he has circulated draft minutes for the in-person National Committee meeting. In addition, he will have the candidates page for the web site updated shortly.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $457.81. There are no outstanding invoices at this time.
Mr. Fleharty delivered a Ballot Access Committee report. The Committee will be meeting Thursday evening.
Mr. Eller delivered a Finance Committee report. The Committee has met and will resume a recessed meeting later this week to continue its review of the fund raising plan.
Mr. Browning delivered a Party Building Committee report. He reported that the Committee is almost formed, with Party Building representatives appointed for most of the organized states. He has been making a large number of phone calls to contacts. Several states are ready to begin organizing committees.
Mr. Spitzig delivered a Platform Committee report. The Committee is working on technical corrections to the platform. The new planks have been inserted and are being reviewed by the Committee.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. The Committee will be meeting Tuesday evening to work on the newsletter. A discussion was held regarding collecting the photographs which were taken at the Convention.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee does not have any issues outstanding at this time.
A time of general discussion took place. Mr. McClellan announced that he has submitted a sufficient number of signatures to be placed on the ballot for the school board in his county. Information about setting up credit card processing for donations was also circulated.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Spitzig, seconded by Mr. McClellan, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:01 p.m.
