Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, August 21, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee
- JC Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:09 p.m.
Mr. Eller moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working with the Platform Committee and making contacts with various party leaders. He has also worked to revise his special article on the party's Middle East policy.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the August 14, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Fleharty, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that, since the last meeting, he submitted the newsletter for printing, retrieved it from the printer, and mailed it out last Friday to all party members and donors.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $567.52. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time.
Mr. Fleharty reported that the Ballot Access Committee continues to collect data for ballot access requirements in several states.
Mr. Eller delivered a Finance Committee report. The committee members are making calls to national committee members soliciting a sustained financial commitment to the party. The committee will next meet on September 7.
A discussion was held regarding the possibility of donors making split contributions to the state and national parties.
Mr. Browning delivered a Party Building Committee report. A meeting will be held tomorrow evening with Iowa organizers. Progress is also being made in Arizona to bring up an organizing committee.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee does not have any issues outstanding at this time.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. The summer newsletter has been mailed. The committee will meet next month to work on the fall newsletter.
A time of general discussion took place.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m.
