Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, October 2, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- JC Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:11 p.m.
Mr. Eller moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working with the Party Building Committee on developing the Activist program. He reported a successful test of the petitioning activist program in a town in Massachusetts over the weekend. He also reported on several contacts and reports of interest to the Party.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the September 25, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Eller, and adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported he is almost finished with the beginning of the month letters and mailings that are sent to donors and members.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $4,486.84. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time.
A discussion was held regarding various upcoming expenditures that require approval by the National Committee.
Mr. White, the Candidates Committee chairman, carried on a discussion regarding deadlines for new candidates who want to run for office. Another discussion was held regarding the volume of calls to the toll-free number.
Mr. Eller delivered a Finance Committee report. The Committee is working on its letter to party leaders concerning their regular contributions.
A discussion took place concerning the promotional coffee mug that the Finance Committee is presently researching.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. Work is proceeding on the next newsletter.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee does not have any issues outstanding at this time.
There being no further business, upon motion made by Mr. Schweingrouber, seconded by Mr. Eller, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:06 p.m.
