Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, December 18, 2006
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:13 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has prepared a press release which will go out tomorrow. He has done some research on obtaining copies of the latest book by Buchanan, with disappointing results. He discussed a useful article on the Real ID Act and its implications regarding the SPP proposal.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the December 11, 2006 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The AFP Mugs have been received and are ready to be shipped. They are available at the party web store.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $4,885.86. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time.
Mr. White delivered the Candidates Committee report. A discussion took place about several potential candidates.
Mr. Browning delivered the Party Building Committee report. He has been fielding many telephone calls. Several persons have been contacted regarding potential party building activity.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. He described his progress on the article on the proposed "North American Union." He also discussed a good color printing company which he has located in Cincinnati that can provide color printing of modest quantities of brochures for state parties at low cost.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is setting up interviews with two new National Committee designees, but these will not take place until after the first of next year.
A long discussion took place on several topics relating to the party platform and the latest attacks on the law by Harvard University and its faculty.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned.
