Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, February 5, 2007
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Party Building Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Mike Eller of Michigan, Finance Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:20 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Schweingrouber seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He appeared on the nationally syndicated Alan Colmes radio program last week to defend the party's press release on abortion. He has been working on articles for the newspaper, and contacting state party leaders to encourage additional activism.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the January 22, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. White. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that most of the beginning of the month duties have been completed. In addition, he has been working on web site content and the proposed format for the party newspaper.
A discussion was held regarding the possibility of having a video introduction to the party on the web site.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $7,264.44. There are no outstanding invoices due at this time. The latest FEC report has been filed and is available on the FEC's public web site.
Mr. White delivered the Candidates Committee report. A discussion was held regarding potential candidates.
Mr. Browning delivered the Party Building Committee report.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered a Public Relations Committee report. The Committee continues to work on the next issue of the newspaper.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee has interviewed and recommended Mr. Michael Lynch to serve on the National Committee representing New York. Additional designees will be interviewed in the next few weeks.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Schweingrouber, seconded by Mr. Browning, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned.
