Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Tuesday, June 5, 2007
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:10 p.m.
Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Schweingrouber seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. A press release against the amnesty bill was issued and the matter discussed for further releases. He reported on his progress on articles for the next newspaper. He mentioned a talk by Scott Ritter decrying the apathy of the public toward misconduct by the government.
A discussion of the partisan dishonesty amongst Republicans as revealed by their response to the Libby sentencing took place.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the May 15, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary mentioned his research into the increase in postal rates. A possible solution has been found.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 6,106.49. There are no outstanding unpaid invoices due at this time. The FEC report has been filed and may be viewed on the FEC's web site.
Mr. Hill reported that the Partybuilding Committee has finished work on the pamphlet to solicit members to the activist programs. The Secretary will be getting them printed and begin mailing them in batches each month.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The Committee continues to work on the next issue of the newspaper. He discussed the possibility of creating blogs or Myspace pages to support and promote the party.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is presently on hiatus.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:13.
