Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

Present:

  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
  • John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
  • J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman

Absent:

  • Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
  • Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
  • Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:26 p.m.

Mr. White moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Schweingrouber seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.

The Chairman delivered his report. He has prepared a short video report on DVD for the AFP Pennsylvania state meeting. In addition, work is progressing on various articles for the next newspaper issue. The Chairman discussed briefly some matters that might be taken before the National Committee for consideration and approval.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 12, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. White. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.

The Secretary is awaiting the arrival of new stationery for mailing out the activist program brochures. The development of methods to provide additional content for the web site was discussed.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 6,236.07. There are no outstanding unpaid invoices due at this time.

A discussion on fundraising took place.

Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee will be considering whether to abolish the special restricted fundraising fund.

The Party Building Committee is finalizing the text of the cover letter for the activist program solicitation.

Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The Committee met last Saturday and will meet again this Saturday to continue work on the newspaper. He is working on several articles and will be traveling to interview some victims of illegal immigrant thugs in Kentucky.

Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee continues on hiatus.

A discussion took place of how to use the internet more effectively to promote and build the party.

There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Schweingrouber, seconded by Mr. Hey, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:47.
