Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, July 9, 2007
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
Absent:
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:12 p.m.
Mr. McClellan moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Schweingrouber seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working with the Finance and Partybuilding Committees on some resolutions for the National Committee. A new press release has been issued. The Chairman reported on some web sabotage that he found and corrected.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 26, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The Secretary reported that the new envelopes have been received and he is now awaiting the cover letter before he can send out the first wave of activist brochures. He has also been researching new web technology which will benefit the party.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 6,752.18. There are no outstanding unpaid invoices due at this time. The monthly FEC report has been filed and may be viewed on the FEC's web site.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has adopted several resolutions for forwarding to the National Committee for its consideration.
Mr. Hill reported that the Partybuilding Committee is finalizing a letter this Wednesday evening. This letter will explain the activist program and urge members to get involved.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The newspaper articles are almost completed for the next issue. Work has begun on the issue to follow.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee continues on hiatus.
A resolution opposing SPP was proposed by Mr. Hill and discussed. More time was needed to review it, and action was deferred until the next meeting.
A discussion took place regarding a presidential candidate's campaign. Other matters discussed included details of processing the state of Florida voter list for state party use.
There being no more business, on motion made by Mr. McClellan, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:05 p.m.
