Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, October 8, 2007
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, October 8, 2007 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:28 p.m.
Mr. Schweingrouber moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He reported on the press release sent out earlier today. Mr. Hill discussed his work with the Arizona organizing committee. He also discussed an contact who conveyed interesting information about illegal immigration and false documentation schemes.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the September 24, 2007 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The newspapers are almost all mailed. Various supplies have been obtained for use in upcoming mailing operations. A discussion took place of the problems of putting the mail pieces together.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 5,993.73.
A query was entertained about the status of the follow-up fundraising letter which will be going out shortly. Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee is getting ready to finalize the letter at its next meeting.
Mr. Hill led a short discussion of Partybuilding Committee business.
Mr. Schweingrouber delivered the Public Relations Committee report. The Committee will be meeting this Saturday or the next to work on the next issue of the newspaper. A discussion took place regarding the most strategic time for mailing the next issue.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is presently on hiatus. A discussion was held about possible improper language being used on the reflectors.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Schweingrouber, and adopted by unanimous consent, the meeting was adjourned at 10:14 p.m.
