Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, January 21, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- J. C. Schweingrouber of Ohio, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Mike Fleharty of Ohio, Ballot Access Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:14 p.m.
Mr. Schweingrouber moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. White seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He reported finishing two articles for the next issue of the newspaper. A press release on the so-called "stimulus package" was sent out earlier in the evening. We will be putting out a press release on the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade tomorrow.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the January 14, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. White. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
All the FAFP packets and other letters and notices have been sent out.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 10,948.02. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.
Mr. Hey reported on his meeting with the Partybuilding Committee to discuss providing access to the partybuilding database to organizing committee members.
Mr. Schweingrouber reported that the Public Relations Committee will meet this Saturday to finalize the articles for the newspaper. It is thought that the next issue may be ready for approval in two or three weeks.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee will be meeting shortly to craft the proposed resolution changes to accommodate the granting of database access issues.
A time of general discussion took place. The "Border Tax Equity Act" was discussed briefly. In addition, Mr. Hill provided some information on bio-diesel fuel.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mr. White, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:08 p.m.
