Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, June 30, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:36 p.m.
Mr. Browning moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Lynch seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous vote.
The Chairman delivered his report. He has been working on several committee projects. He discussed last week's Supreme Court decision on the Second Amendment, and Seymour Hersh's latest article on covert activities in Iran.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the June 16, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Browning. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 11,698.50. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.
Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report. He has been working with several new contacts. He is creating a MySpace page to promote the party.
Mr. Browning discussed several ideas for building the party via the internet. The idea of re-activating the on-line petition pages was discussed.
Mr. Lynch reported on progress by the PR Committee on the upcoming issue of the party newspaper. The newspaper is almost finished and ready for layout. Several articles that are pending for this issue were discussed.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee has no business pending before it at the present time.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
