BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.

The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.

The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:

Present:

  • Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
  • John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
  • Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
  • Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman

Absent:

  • Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
  • Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
  • Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman

A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:37 p.m.

Mr. Lynch moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.

The Chairman delivered his report. He reported on recent interactions with critics of the party and supporters of the war who are upset that the AFP won't merge with their organizations.

The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the August 11, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Browning. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.

The Secretary reported that the newspaper has been mailed to all members and supporters. Additional copies will be mailed later this month.

The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 11,504.24. There are no unpaid invoices at this time, but several will be coming due with the mailing of the newspaper.

Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee will be working on the fundraising letter soon.

Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report. He reported new contacts, and some interaction with a sympathetic Republican convention delegate responding to our latest petition against the NAU. He reported great progress in finally securing an organizer for California.

Mr. Lynch reported the PR Committee is soon to begin putting together the next issue of the newspaper.

Mr. Hey pointed out that we will need to get the introductory newsletter reprinted shortly, as we have almost exhausted our supply.

Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee needs to interview a new candidate for National Committee membership from the state of Ohio. The Platform Committee will also need to interview this candidate as well.

A time of general discussion took place.

There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Browning, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:28 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
