Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, October 13, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Lynch delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:13 p.m.
Mr. Lynch moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. The National Committee meeting seemed to go well. He has been working on drafts of a letter to send to Ron Paul supporters about why they should join with us. A press release has been prepared for distribution later this evening.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the September 29, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Lynch. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
The fundraising letters have all been mailed out.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 7365.92. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has no business presently pending.
Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report. He provided a summary of contacts we have received in the past two weeks. He described the progress he has made in gaining assistants to work on the new Patriot Alert effort. He discussed work he has done with the organizer in California.
Mr. Lynch reported the PR Committee is awaiting a draft layout for the newspaper. He will be following up regarding the webpage banner ad for which the National Committee authorized funding.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is waiting to hear back from Mr. Meiers from Ohio for his interview.
A discussion took place about implementing the Patriot Alert proposal that the National Committee authorized.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Hey, seconded by Mr. Lynch, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:01 p.m.
