Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, October 20, 2008
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
- Peter Browning of Florida, Partybuilding Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Martin McClellan of Florida, Vice-chairman
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman, joined the meeting after the roll had been called.
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:13 p.m.
Mr. Lynch moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Browning seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He finished the work on the newspaper, and has written some responses to various inquiries we have received. He mentioned the need to convince pro-lifers that McCain is not a legitimate supporter of our cause. He discussed parallels between our market crisis and the Argentine collapse in the 90s.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the October 13, 2008 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Lynch. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote, Mr. White abstaining.
The newspaper is at the printer and will be picked up tomorrow morning. The Patriot Alert email list is up and running, and ready to receive subscriptions.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $ 7113.91. There are no unpaid invoices at this time.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has no business presently pending.
Mr. Browning delivered the Partybuilding Committee report. He provided a summary of contacts we have received in the past week.
Mr. Lynch reported the PR Committee has finished the newspaper and sent it to the printer. Next on its agenda is to update and reprint the introductory newsletter.
A discussion took place about Mr. Lynch's recent article about McCain's lack of pro-life credentials.
A discussion took place regarding the newspaper and its production.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee is waiting to hear back from Mr. Meiers from Ohio for his interview.
A time of general discussion took place.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Browning, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:07 p.m.
