Minutes of the Operating Committee of the America First Party
Monday, April 12, 2010
BE IT REMEMBERED that the Operating Committee of the America First Party met on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. East Coast Time, pursuant to the previous resolution of the Operating Committee.
The Chairman led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Hey delivered the invocation.
The Secretary called the roll of Operating Committee members:
Present:
- Jon Hill of Massachusetts, Chairman
- John Hey of Mississippi, National Secretary and Treasurer
- Michael Lynch of New York, Public Relations Committee Chairman
Absent:
- Joe Spitzig of Ohio, Platform Committee Chairman
- Tom White of Massachusetts, Candidates Committee Chairman
A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 9:18 p.m.
Mr. Lynch moved the adoption of the standard Agenda. Mr. Hey seconded the motion. The Agenda was adopted by unanimous consent.
The Chairman delivered his report. He reported completion of the fundraising letter and its approval by the Finance Committee. He reported some outreach in Massachusetts, and how we can better make contact with and perhaps recruit disaffected Republicans. He reported completing a new thank-you letter, and urged the members to complete work on a proposed resolution regarding war with Iran.
The Secretary reminded the members that he had previously circulated draft minutes for the April 5, 2010 meeting of the Operating Committee. Mr. Hey moved the adoption of the minutes as published. His motion was seconded by Mr. Lynch. The minutes were adopted by unanimous vote.
Several hundred address corrections have been received and they are being posted to the database. A discussion took place regarding state party officer notices. The timing of the mailing of the follow-up fundraising letter was also discussed.
The Treasurer reported that the party's bank balance is $4976.73. There are no unpaid invoices.
Mr. Hill reported that the Finance Committee has turned in the final version of the fundraising letter to the National Secretary for mailing.
Mr. Lynch reported that the Public Relations Committee will be meeting soon to discuss future publicity and publishing plans. The party's web ad will run for one more week on the AmConMag site.
Mr. Hey reported that the Rules Committee has finished all its business for the present time.
A time of general discussion took place. A discussion was had regarding the need to call a national committee meeting shortly.
There being no further business, on motion made by Mr. Lynch, seconded by Mr. Hey, and adopted by unanimous vote, the meeting was adjourned at 10:12 p.m.
