CONVENTION DATE SET--PARTY GROWTH CONTINUES
Boulder, CO - The America First Party starts 2003 with renewed vigor and an
energized membership and has begun preparations for its second National
Convention. In a vote by mail completed in late December, the Party's
National Committee voted overwhelmingly to hold the convention the weekend
of July 24-27, 2003. The location of the convention is still to be
determined.
National Convention Committee Chairman Gene Lovell stated, "The America
First Party is preparing for an outstanding convention that will celebrate
our nation's unique heritage and focus on preparing our party, its
candidates, and its membership, for the 2003 and 2004 elections. Now that
the date is set, we can begin the process of seeking a venue, inviting
speakers, and setting our program."
"The America First Party's principled stands continue to attract new members
and new state affiliates," said National Chairman Dan Charles. He
continued, "Nine months ago we started with just eight organized states.
With the recent addition of Wisconsin, we now have 24 affiliated state
parties and another 15 states have formal organizing committees."
Mr. Charles continued, "While we are disappointed that none of our
candidates in the last election won their races, we are encouraged by the
reception they did receive. While being out-spent on average 100-1, more than
half of our candidates received 10-25% of the votes cast in their race.
This would be a strong showing for any third party. For one less than six
months old on election day, it is outstanding."
"The steady response we have continued to receive over these past months has
exceeded all expectations. We have begun advertising and raising money.
The numbers of Americans committed to our principles have overwhelmed our
volunteers, and we have quadrupled the number of volunteers answering our
toll-free line. Our award winning website continues to be busy, receiving
more than 1,000,000 hits by year-end. The first issue of the newsletter was
well received by thousands of patriotic Americans. We are prepared to move
forward with the business of securing ballot access and electing principled
candidates who will put America and all Americans First," added Mr. Charles.
The America First Party was founded on April 15, 2002. It is dedicated to
promoting a set of principled policy stands and candidates, which emphasize
protecting our sovereignty and borders, restoring our economic independence,
revitalizing our Constitution, cleaning up our corrupted political system,
and promoting traditional values.
