Party Calls for a Culture of Life

Boulder, CO - On this memorial to thirty years since Roe -v- Wade, the America First Party issues the following statements:

National Chairman Dan Charles said, "All Americans of good heart are saddened today, as we are reminded that we have seen a generation lost. Forty-three million (43,000,000) of America's children have been robbed of their right to life, and we have all been robbed of their presence. Judicial fiat and a culture of death, based on a lie, have laid waste to our nation's soul. We must restore a culture of life. The American holocaust must end."

National Vice Chair Gene Lovell said, "The GOP has controlled Congress for much of the last decade. Republicans have appointed 7 of the 9 sitting Supreme Court Justices, and the killing continues. Republicans must stop playing politics with innocent lives at election time, while working to maintain the status quo the rest of the time. President Bush's avoidance of today's pro-life rallies is an example of what cowardice has wrought."

National Secretary John Pittman Hey added, "While Congress cowers, pro-life advocates have hoped in vain that President Bush's judicial nominees would protect our nation's most helpless. Instead, his nominations of Miguel Estrada and Michael Chertoff to the federal bench are an assault on the innocent unborn and their defenders. Together, they are the architects of a policy to promote the criminal prosecution of peaceful pro-life protesters. Together, they trample the First Amendment to protect the purveyors of death."

National Treasurer Maureen McHugh said, "There are better options today than killing the unborn child. Sadly, with more than 20% of pregnancies ending with an abortion, and multi-year waiting lists to adopt, these options are too often ignored. With all the life-respecting options available to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and to deal with it after it happens, we as a people cannot just blame corrupt and cowardly politicians--we must also blame ourselves."

National Platform Chairman Michael O'Brian said, "The America First Party and its membership is firmly committed to restoring equal protection of the right to life for all, born and unborn. We agree with our nation's founders that the right to life is a fundamental right granted by our Creator, and as such cannot be superceded by the laws of man."

National Press Secretary Romelle Winters added, "Our Party recognizes that life begins at conception and the right to life continues until natural death. We call on all medical practitioners to remain true to their oath and protect that right. We support the overturning of Roe v. Wade and seek the passage and vigorous enforcement of legislation which protects the right to life, regardless of age or state of gestation."
