2003 Convention Set for Nashville, July 25-26
Boulder, CO - The America First Party today announces that its Second
National Convention will be held July 25th and 26th, 2003 at the
Tennessee Airport Marriott in Nashville, Tennessee.
National Chairman Dan Charles said, "This convention will provide an
opportunity for Party activists and leaders to prepare the way for
electoral success in 2003 and 2004. Our governing body, the America
First National Committee, meets regularly via conference call. This
annual in-person meeting will provide a forum for our officer and
committee chair elections and other annual planning. Our convention
delegates will hear from our candidates, and other outstanding
speakers. They will also debate additions to our platform that will
cover issues we do not yet address. We anticipate a good time for all
who come."
On the America First Party's one-year anniversary, April 15, 2003,
members of the AFNC chose between sites in Edison, NJ and Nashville,
TN. The Convention Committee had conducted a thorough exploration of
many cities and venues.
A core party principle is the promotion of a "Buy American" policy.
One of the selection criteria that was never in question was American
ownership of the host hotel. America First Party of Florida Chairman
Roger Simmermaker, author of the book "How Americans Can Buy American",
said, "American companies pay three times the taxes as foreign owned
companies, reducing the tax burden on everyday Americans. American
families lose every time a foreign company is patronized instead of an
American one."
This will be a working convention. However, there will be speakers
scheduled that will be informative and appealing to the members and
guests. The convention is open to the public and the press, although
seating is limited. A Saturday night banquet is open to the public.
Tickets are required and will soon be available at reasonable cost. We
encourage those interested in observing the Party as it works to put
together a viable alternative to the Republican and Democrat parties to
visit our web site for more information.
JD Jones, Chairman of the Tennessee America First Party stated: "The
members of the America First Party of Tennessee wish to thank the
National Committee for selecting Tennessee to host the Second
Convention of the America First Party. Because Tennessee is centrally
located, it assures maximum participation from delegates across the
country and promotion of the Party. Nashville is the home of country
music and a multitude of entertainment."
