Defy Tyrannical Judicial Decrees -- Keep the Ten Commandments!
Boulder, CO -- The America First Party applauds Alabama Supreme Court
Justice Roy Moore's courageous actions in defense of our nation's
Constitution, the sovereign rights of the state of Alabama, and our
Judeo-Christian heritage. We condemn in the strongest possible terms the
outrageous ruling of Federal District Court Judge Myron Thompson. We also
condemn the cowardly actions of the US Supreme Court and Alabama Attorney
General Bill Pryor. We call upon all patriots to stand firm in opposing
Judge Thompson's ordered removal of the Ten Commandments from the rotunda of
the Alabama Supreme Court.
John Pittman Hey, the party's National Secretary, declared: "Justice Moore
is completely within his rights as a judge and as a citizen, to celebrate
the very foundation of Western moral standards and Alabama state law by
erecting this great monument to the Ten Commandments. Judge Thompson's
order is not only an attack against Justice Moore's prerogatives as the
highest judicial officer of the state -- it is an assault against our
Constitution, religious freedom, and the Alabama voters who elected Justice
Moore."
Romelle Winters, the party's Press Secretary, commented: "The Federal
Judiciary has shown its true colors with this all-out attack against our
nation's Judeo-Christian heritage and the Constitution. From the District
Court all the way up to the Supreme Court, not a single judge will stand up
for the First Amendment. At every level, we continue to witness a sustained
and unrelenting attack by our Courts against the rule of law and the
Constitution they have each given an oath to support. If we are to restore
liberty and the Constitution, it appears we are going to have to get some
new judges."
Dan Charles, the party's National Chairman Emeritus, added: "The First
Amendment was written to protect the people and the states from Federal
intrusion into religion -- that's why it reads, 'Congress shall make no
law..' Nowhere in the Constitution is there any prohibition against what
Justice Roy Moore has done. In fact, the First and the Tenth Amendments
expressly protect his display of the Ten Commandments. We call upon all
those who have pledged to uphold the Constitution to defy these tyrannical
judicial orders which attempt to overrule the Constitution and the rights of
Justice Moore."
The cowardly betrayal of the Constitution by Alabama Attorney General Bill
Pryor is particularly disturbing. Mr. Pryor, who has been nominated to the
federal bench by George Bush, has announced he will help enforce the illegal
orders of the Federal Court. His actions no doubt are meant to pander to
the liberal Democrats who are blocking his appointment in the Senate
confirmation proceedings.
Trey Golmon, Ballot Access Committee Chairman, commented: "Mr. Pryor is
willing to sell out the Constitution and the rights of his state and its
citizens in exchange for a lifetime appointment to the Federal Bench. That's not the kind of judge we need. Leave it to the Republicans to nominate
men of such low moral caliber, lacking in reverence for our Constitution and
our Judeo-Christian heritage. We hope Mr. Pryor never makes it to the
federal bench, and we demand that President Bush nominate men and women with
integrity and honor who will take seriously their solemn oath to defend the
Constitution."
