Support for Plan B is Extremely Reckless and Dangerous
Boulder, CO - The America First Party strongly opposes the "morning-after
pill" Plan B. The FDA appears poised to approve it for over-the-counter
distribution, with the full support of the supposedly "pro-life" Bush
Administration. Unknown to many, this drug has an abortifacient effect.
The FDA would allow the casual purchase, without clinical supervision, of an
agent that in many cases kills a human life. The scheme offered to require
prescriptions for minors is a ridiculous charade.
National Chairman Jonathan Hill commented: "Many wrongly believe the drug is
just an emergency contraceptive. However, the informational insert which
has been packaged with Plan B contains the words: 'Plan B ... may inhibit
implantation.' This means the drug may cause abortion by preventing
implantation of a fertilized embryo."
Mr. Hill continued: "The nearly worthless scheme to only allow adults to buy
it over-the-counter will not prevent those over 18, including adult
predators, from handing the drug to minor girls. And by giving young
people and adults a false sense of security, it will tend to increase
promiscuity and sexually transmitted diseases; this has happened in Scotland
and the UK, when Plan B was made easily available."
The America First Party advocates zero tolerance for abortifacients. Our
platform states that "life begins at conception and continues until natural
death . [We] seek the passage and vigorous enforcement of legislation which
protects the right to life, regardless of age or state of gestation."
The America First Party was founded in April 2002 and is focused on electing principled citizen statesmen who will preserve and protect our people and our sovereignty, promote economic growth and independence, encourage the traditional values of faith, family, and responsibility, ensure equality before the law in protecting those rights granted by the Creator, and clean up our corrupted political system. In 2004, the AFP elected two-thirds of its candidates to public office.
