Dump the Hate Crimes Bill -- No Special Privileges for Transvestites!
Boulder, CO - The America First Party opposes Hate Crimes regulations, including HR1592, which could be voted on shortly. The bill's broad definitions of "hate crimes" would pave the way for privileged treatment of homosexuals, transvestites, and other sexually disordered persons when prosecuting persons convicted of violence against them.
This bill should be opposed for the same reasons that we oppose affirmative action -- it inappropriately gives one class of citizens special treatment or protection. In so doing, it creates more inequality, thereby fracturing our national unity. The dissension that legislation like this creates is enhanced in this case by the fact that most Americans recognize that homosexuals and transvestites are not worthy of special privileges. By granting privileges, the credibility of the federal government will be greatly damaged.
National Chairman Jon Hill stated: "Although the civil rights of persons may be sometimes abused by violent acts, the solution to the problem is not the creation of inequality in the law, but enforcement of existing laws. And by giving special `rights' to people who engage in unnatural acts, we do the injustice of indirectly showering approval on their self-destructive lifestyles. This is very uncharitable."
National Secretary John Pittman Hey stated: "This bill, although narrow in its scope, will help condition Americans to the idea of `hate crime laws,' which have been used elsewhere to persecute Christians for preaching against perverse lifestyles. Given the incremental approach used by many on the left, this should be a serious concern."
The America First Party is unalterably opposed to all so-called 'hate crime' laws whether they are federal, state, county, or municipal. The elusive element of 'hate' as a significant factor in the commission of a particular crime is something that can best be determined by God, not by Man.
